Sermon Big Idea: Persecution is often proof that I truly belong to Christ who was first rejected for my sake

Introduction                                   

Jesus gathered ordinary people and warned them that persecution isn’t just possible—it’s promised for those who follow Him. Instead of avoiding this reality, Jesus explains its purpose and the unexpected blessing found within it.

Persecution is Certain

Every follower of Christ, in every generation, will face some form of persecution because allegiance to Jesus provokes resistance from the world. This can appear dramatically or quietly, but its source is always hostility toward Christ Himself.

Persecution is Confirming

Persecution doesn't weaken true faith; instead, it reveals and proves its authenticity before God and others. Enduring rejection places believers among the faithful who came before and ties them to the very path Jesus walked.

Conclusion

When you experience scorn for Christ’s sake, see it as evidence that you truly belong to Him, not as a sign of failure. Rejoice—not for the pain itself, but because it confirms your place in Christ's kingdom and secures your eternal reward.
