Sermon Big Idea: Meekness is not the absence of strength, but strength joyfully surrendered to the will of God

Introduction

In a world that prizes self-assertion and strength, Jesus offers a surprising blessing for the meek. His words in the Sermon on the Mount invite us to discover a satisfaction that comes only from living life His way.

Meekness is spiritual Surrender

True meekness begins with spiritual surrender to God. It is a supernatural quality produced by the Holy Spirit, leading us to patiently trust and follow God’s timing rather than our own.

Meekness is controlled Strength

Meekness also means controlled strength under God’s rule. Instead of weakness, biblical meekness shows up as calm trust and power held in check for God’s purposes.

Conclusion

By embracing meekness, we reflect Jesus and thrive in His kingdom. Choosing strength joyfully surrendered to the will of God allows us to experience the blessing Jesus promises to the meek.
