Sermon Title: Imitating God as Beloved Children in Christ

Scripture: (Ephesians 5:1-21)

Series Big Idea: God unites and transforms believers in Christ’s Church

Sermon Big Idea: Walk in love and light, embracing Spirit-filled wisdom

Introduction:

Many Christians struggle to bridge the gap between knowing God’s love and living it out daily. Paul addresses this dilemma in Ephesians 5, urging believers to actively imitate God in their relationships.

The PATTERN We’re Called to Reflect (vv.1-7)

Paul calls the Ephesians to reflect Christ’s sacrificial love as the foundational pattern for Christian living. He warns them to turn away from the world’s old patterns and walk distinctly as God’s holy people.

The IDENTITY That Results (vv.8-21)

Paul reminds believers that a new identity as “children of light” is the result of imitating God. This identity is marked by wise, Spirit-filled living that shapes both worship and relationships within the church.

Conclusion:

Ephesians 5 invites us to live out our calling, imitating God and embracing our true identity in Christ. As we follow Christ’s pattern, God’s love and wisdom become visible in every part of our lives.
