Sermon Title: Strengthened, Rooted, and Overflowing for God's Glory
Scripture: (Ephesians 3:14-21)
Series Big Idea: God unites and transforms believers in Christ’s Church
Sermon Big Idea: Paul prays for strength, love, and God's overflowing fullness
Introduction:
Some passages of Scripture invite us to see God’s heart and purposes in a profound way, and Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 3:14-21 is one of those. In this prayer, Paul reveals how he approaches God, what he asks for the church, and why it matters.
The Posture of Prayer (14-15)
Paul approaches God with humility and reverence, demonstrating that prayer is a serious and dependent act. He recognizes God as the Father of every family, emphasizing the unity and identity believers have in Him.
The Petition for Strength (16-19)
Paul prays that believers would receive inner strength from the Holy Spirit, allowing Christ to dwell more fully in their hearts. He longs for the church to be deeply rooted in Christ’s love and to be filled with all the fullness of God.
The Praise for God’s Power (20-21)
Paul celebrates God’s ability to do far more than we could ever ask or imagine, according to His power at work in us. His ultimate desire is that God would be glorified through the church and in Christ for all generations.
Conclusion:
Paul’s prayer calls us to seek God’s strength, love, and fullness, trusting that our Father is able to do immeasurably more than we can imagine. In response, our lives and our church should overflow with praise, bringing glory to God now and forever.
