Scripture: (Titus 3:8-11)
Series Big Idea: Grace motivates godly living more than rules every could
Sermon Big Idea: God's grace motives good works and rejects divisive controversy
Introduction
Paul addresses a timeless problem in the church: believers wasting energy on divisive issues instead of pursuing godly living. He urges us to focus on good works that stem from genuine faith in Christ, reminding us that grace, not rules, is our motivation.
Insist on Christ-Centered Good Works (v. 8)
Paul commands Titus to continually remind the church that true faith must overflow into intentional, Christ-centered good works. These good works are not about earning God’s favor, but are a grateful response to His mercy, requiring deliberate effort anchored in the gospel.
Avoid Divisive Distractions (v. 9-11)
Paul warns that foolish controversies and divisive arguments only waste time, create division, and distract believers from their calling. The church must protect its mission by refusing to be pulled into fruitless debates, focusing instead on acts of service and unity.
Conclusion
Paul challenges us to choose: Will we be people of good works or people entangled in unprofitable quarrels? The world notices how we live, profitable faith is seen in believers devoted to intentional, Christ-centered acts that bless others and glorify Christ.
