ENCOUNTER'S WITH THE RISEN LORD
Sunday April 26, 2026
Sermon Title: Restored and Commissioned By The Risen Savior
Scripture: (John 21:15-19)
Series Big Idea: Meeting the risen Jesus transforms doubt, fear, and failure into victory
Sermon Big Idea: Christ redeems our failures and calls us to serve
Introduction:
Peter’s story reminds us that failure is not the end with Jesus. In John 21, the risen Christ meets Peter after his denial, inviting him into a life-changing encounter of grace.
Restoration Through Repeated Affirmation (vv. 15-17)
Jesus gives Peter the chance to affirm his love three times, matching each of Peter’s denials. This intentional act showcases Christ’s power to restore what has been broken by our sin.
Responsibility Shown Through Jesus’s Commission (vv. 18-19)
After restoring Peter, Jesus entrusts him with the responsibility of caring for His people. True love for Jesus is shown as Peter is called to shepherd and serve the Lord’s flock.
Conclusion:
Jesus restores our failures and entrusts us with new purpose. The risen Lord’s grace does not only forgive but also commissions us to serve and care for others in His name.
