Sermon Title: The Invitation to Brokenness

Series Big Idea: Capturing the urgency and clarity of the prophets’ messages in turbulent times

Sermon Big Idea: God restores His people as they return to Him in brokenness

Introduction:

God’s Word is filled with invitations to return to Him. Hosea 6:1–2 offers one of the clearest calls for revival through repentance and restoration.

(Hosea 6:1-2)

Come, let's return to the Lord. For He has torn us, and He will heal us; He has wounded us, and He will bind up our wounds. 2 He will revive us after two days, and on the third day He will raise us up so we can live in His presence.

God’s Plea to a Wayward People(6:1a)

God’s people had drifted far from Him, trading faithful devotion for shallow ritual and sin. Yet, in mercy, He lovingly invites them to return.

God's Plan for a Wounded People (6:1b)

The Lord may discipline His people, but His purpose is healing, not harm. Even His corrective measures are acts of grace meant to draw us back to Him.

God’s Promise to a Repentant People (6:2)

When we return in brokenness, God responds with revival and renewed fellowship. His presence and power are promised to the heart that humbles itself before Him.

Conclusion:

God still restores and revives His people when they return in genuine repentance. His invitation in Hosea is seen throughout Scripture and remains open to every believer today who responds with a broken and humble heart.
