Sermon Title: The God of Mercy
Series Big Idea: Capturing the urgency and clarity of the prophets’ messages in turbulent times
Sermon Big Idea: God offers mercy through repentance and calls us to obedience
Introduction:
Jonah 3 reveals God's incredible mercy through one of Scripture’s greatest turnarounds. A rebellious prophet is recommissioned, and a wicked city repents.
God’s Call Remains Despite Our Failures: (3:1-3a)
God didn't give up on Jonah, and He doesn't give up on us. When we fall short, He calls again and still chooses to use us.
Repentance is the Right Response to God’s Word: (3:3b-9)
Nineveh responded to God's warning with sincere humility and change. True repentance is turning from sin and trusting in God's mercy.
God’s Mercy Meets Sincere Repentance: (3:10)
God relented when He saw Nineveh’s repentance, showing His heart of compassion. This mercy points us to Christ, who bore our judgment at the cross.
Conclusion:
Jesus is the greater Jonah, offering not just warning but eternal life. Our call is to trust Him daily and proclaim His mercy to the world.
