THRONES OF GLORY AND GRACE

Sunday May 4, 2025

Sermon Title: Restored to Renewed

Series Big Idea: Focusing on the human quest for power, versus God’s sovereign reign

Sermon Big Idea: God renews our hearts to restore others through His grace

Scripture: (Psalm 51:10-13)

God, create a clean heart for me and renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not banish me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore the joy of your salvation to me, and sustain me by giving me a willing spirit. 13 Then I will teach the rebellious your ways, and sinners will return to you.

Introduction:

As we celebrate 32 years of ministry, we pause to remember not just where we've been, but who we're becoming. Psalm 51 reminds us that spiritual renewal begins with a personal cry for God's transforming grace.

God Desires to Renew Our Hearts(Psalm 51:10–12)

David doesn't ask for better behavior; he pleads for a brand-new heart created by God. Real renewal begins when we long for His presence more than His blessings and seek joy through restored relationship with Him.

God Renews Us to Restore Others(Psalm 51:13)

David’s restoration leads to mission—his testimony becomes a tool for teaching and leading others back to God. When God renews us, it’s never just for us; it's so we can extend His grace to a hurting, watching world.

Conclusion:

God has been faithful to our church for 32 years, but His desire is not just to sustain us—it’s to revive us. Let this homecoming be the beginning of a new season of renewal and restoration for both our hearts and our church.
